West Coast Sea Food Guide 2008 (USA)

General Dining Tips:

Here are just a few tips to keep in mind when dining out that can make a difference.

Eat at restaurants that offer local and organic foods.
Car pool, if possible, when dining in large groups.
Avoid the use of styrofoam products (such as some take-out containers).
Choose certified green restaurants. Visit DineGreen.com for more information.

Seafood:

Choosing the right seafood is important. Approximately 30 million tons of fish, sea
turtles, sharks, and sea birds die each year accidentally as a result of conventional
fishing practices. Then they are discarded, dead or dying. Fish are being caught
before they have a chance to reproduce. A guide is below for residents of Washington,
Oregon, and California. For other areas, visit Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch.

"Many organic practices simply make sense,
regardless of what overall agricultural
system is used. Far from being a quaint
throwback to an earlier time, organic
agriculture is proving to be a serious
contender in modern farming and a more
environmentally sustainable system over
the long term."
